DSE continues to gain, CSE returns to green

DHAKA: Country’s prime bourse closed in positive note for the second consecutive day and the port city bourse returned to gaining spell on Thursday (April 18) amidst growing confidence of the investors.

Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) sustained positive trend throughout the session.
 
At the close of day’s trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse went up by 61.99 points or 1.17 percent to reach 5,321. 

However, two other indices also ended higher. 

The DSE Shariah Index saw gain of 10.57 point or 0.86 percent to close at 1227.61.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also rose over 17.07 points or 0.90 percent to finish at 1897.58.

Of the issues traded, 248 gained, 57 declined and 40 remained unchanged.

“Market has remained cheerful due to spontaneous participation backed by hopes and excitements to keep market vibrant,” said EBL securities in its daily market analysis. 

Shares worth Tk 3,521 million changed hands at the DSE on the last trading session of the week.

Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company topped the turnover leaders with 1.04 million shares worth Tk 175.50 million traded.

Top five gainers at prime bourse DSE at the end of day’s trading are BSC, UNITEDINS, ACTIVEFINE, ECABLES and DAFODILCOM. 

The CSE overall share index, CASPI also advanced 181.66 points or 1.12 percent to reach 16264.95 points at the close today. 


Of the 236 issues traded, 44 advanced, 16 suffered loss and 45 remained unchanged.

The value of the traded issues was Tk 187.88 million.
