DSE, CSE open week in red

DHAKA: Country’s both bourses closed in negative note on Sunday (April 7) as low confident investors refrained from putting fresh fund amid ongoing bearish trend in the market.

At the close of day’s trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse went down by 26.02 points or 0.47 percent to reach 5,433.89. 

Two other indices also ended lower. The DSE Shariah Index saw loss of 10.65 point or 0.83 percent to close at 1,258.76.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also shed over 5.70 points or 0.29 percent to finish at 1,942.76.

Losers beat gainers with 236 losers, 73 gainers while 35 remained unchanged.

Moreover, the market turnover closed at recorded low of Tk 3.3 billion during last 12 months. 

“The shaky investors liquidated their holdings from large-cap stocks, particularly on Telecommunication, Financial Institutions and Fuel & Power sectors which pushed down the market”, said EBL Securities in its daily market analysis.  

United Power Generation and Distribution Company Limited topped the turnover leaders with 8.8 lakh shares worth Tk 337.60 million traded.

The CSE overall share index, CASPI also lost 75.03 points or 0.44 percent to reach 16,665 points at the close today. 

Of the 241 issues traded, 55 advanced, 161 suffered loss and 25 remained unchanged. 

The value of the traded issues was Tk 956.29 million.
