DHAKA: The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) directed country’s two stock exchanges to submit their reports on market monitoring by Wednesday, as the watchdog goes tough so the stock traders play by the book.

SEC market-surveillance committee on Tuesday evening issued a letter to Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) with the directives.

As per the letter, the surveillance departments of both the bourses were asked to report how they are monitoring the market by August 11.

They have also been asked to inform the market regulator about irregularities, “if any”, and their remedial action.

Executive director of SEC Saiful Islam, talking to banglanews24.com.bd, confirmed the market-regulating measure underway.

Earlier on Monday, the SEC, however, had decided to monitor the activities of the market-surveillance committee of the two bourses every week as double-checks.
