80pc tourist spots in Bandarban undiscovered

BANDARBAN: Chittagong University (CU) geography and environment science department Professor Mohammad Mohibullah commented that about 80 percent tourist spots in Bandarban district have not been discovered.

“We should find out them,” he added.

Mohibullah opined that tourism spots should be detected putting importance on the presence of hills, rivers and biodiversity together in the area. “We also need better road communication to attract more tourists.”

According to him, more publicity on tourism is needed to bring more tourists.

CU teacher Mohibullah made the assertions at a discussion on the prospect of tourism in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) region organized by country’s leading online news portal Banglanews at Bandarban DC conference room in Sadar town on Friday morning (October 21).

Earlier, Banglanews editor-in-chief Alamgir Hossain delivered welcome speech while presiding over the two-day discussion.

Bandarban deputy commissioner Dilip Kumar Banik has participated program as the chief guest.

Dhaka University tourism and hospitality management department chairman Professor Dr Shaker Ahmed, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) civil and environment engineering department Professor Zahir Bin Alam and Hiamul Islam and reptile specialist Shariar Rahman Sizar are present in the discussion.
