DHAKA: Biman Bangladesh Airlines honoured the cockpit and cabin crews as they foiled a hijacking attempt of a Dubai-bound plane in Chattogram. 

The crews including Captain Md Golam Shafi and First Officer Muntassir Mahboob were handed over bouquets, appreciation letters and crests amid formal arrangements at Balaka office Sunday (May 26).

Besides, two IT officers of the national flag carrier were also honoured as recognition of their bravery in dousing a fire at the main data center of Biman Headquarters.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director and CEO Captain Farhat Hassan Jamil attended the occasion as the chief guest.

Biman higher officials including Director (Admin) Ziauddin Ahmed, Director (Procurement and Logistic Support) Md Mominul Islam and General Managing Director (Public Relations) Shakil Meraj, among others, were present.

On February 24, a Dubai-bound Biman flight made an emergency landing at Hazrat Shah Amanat International Airport in the port city, escaping an attempted hijack by a miscreant.
