DHAKA: Whether the pistol recovered from the slain youth during Sunday’s failed attempt of hijacking a Biman aircraft was a real or toy one is still a mystery.

Higher officials, including the civil aviation state minister and chairman didn’t reveal anything about it in a press briefing held at the VIP Lounge of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Monday (Feb 25).

“It isn’t known yet whether the pistol possessed by killed youth Palash was a real or toy one,” Civil Aviation and Tourism State Minister Mahabub Ali told media.

When he was asked about ‘shooting’ at the Biman aircraft claimed by the army GOC, the state minister said: “We don’t know it”.

He also urged the journalists to avoid the news which can tarnish image of the country to the world community.

Civil Aviation Chairman Air Vice Marshall Nayeem Hasan, among other higher officials, participated in the press briefing.

24-year-old Palash, who attempted to hijack an aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines took off from Dhaka to Dubai via Chattogram, was killed in an 8-minute commando operation at Chattogram airport on Sunday (Feb 24).
