Tania behind camera again

Though Tania Ahmed has obtained popularity as an actor, her hobby for TV plays and music videos lead her to emerge as a director too. Recently, she is going to direct a 26-episode drama serial titled ‘A Team’ which will be shot in different places in London. Written by Masud Sejan, the serial features a team of artistes who goes abroad to perform there. However, the members of the team face different problems there.

‘The play criticises professional jealousy that hampers works everywhere,’ commented Tania, ‘At one point, jealousy gives birth to misunderstand and creates ‘unfair’ contests between the team members. But ultimately, when they all fall in trouble, they get united again forgetting jealousy.’

The cast includes Mosharraf Karim, Tania Ahmed, SI Tutul, Bijori Barkatullah, Saju Muntasir, Siddique and Prattasha.

Not that Tania is a newcomer to work behind the camera; she has been working as music video director since 1998. She also bought out an album featuring the video songs in 1999. Nearly 10 years after, in 2007, Tania plucked up courage to direct a single-episode play titled ‘Amar Jochhona Din’. The drama went on air on Channel i on the occasion International Women’s Day.

Besides, she has made two more singe- episode plays. When asked what difference she finds between directing drama and music videos, Tania said, ‘As from my experience, I would say music video requires more technical approaches while emotion matters in directing plays.’

When asked if she wants to concentrate more on directing than acting, Tania said, ‘No, I don’t think so. Performance is my passion and direction is my hobby’. She wants to create something innovative as a director. ‘Whenever I feel like working on something new, I give it a try’, she adde.
