BHF sign five years contract with Bashundhara Group

Bashundhara Group Vice-Chairman and T Sports Chairman and Managing Director Safwan Sobhan Tasvir on Monday said that they can develop the country’s any sport if the other leading corporate companies cooperate with them.

Safwan made the statement in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing and Franchise Name Unveiling Ceremony of the inaugural ‘Bangladesh Champions Trophy - BCT 2022’ at a city hotel in the capital.

“Whatever we think, we think for the long term. We have good plans in hand. We are moving forward with a long-term sustainable business model for this league,” Safwan said.

The country’s largest business conglomerate Bashundhara Group’s sister concern ACE launched the country’s first-ever franchise hockey league – BCT – with an aim to revive and popularise hockey in the country.

ACE signed an MoU with the Bangladesh Hockey Federation on the same day where Safwan was present as the special guest.

ACE Chief Executive Officer Ishtiaque Sadeque and the BHF Acting General Secretary Mohammed Yousuf signed the MoU from their respective parties.

The BHF President and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan were present in the ceremony as the chief guest while franchise owners and other distinguished personalities were also present on the occasion.

Corporate companies including Saif Powertec Ltd, Walton, Rupayan Group, ACME, and Monarch Mart also stepped forward to support Bashundhara Group in their novel purpose.

Safwan, who is also the President of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd and Managing Director of Rangpur Riders, further added that they have a master plan for developing the country’s sports arena.
“Bashundhara Group has a master plan for developing the country’s sports arena. So, we have invested hugely in the sports complex which has been established on more than 200 bigha land in the Bashundhara Residential Area.

“The sports complex has four hockey grounds and two cricket grounds. There are pitches for football, futsal and many other sports which can be taken into the broadcast level,” he said.

“We will put everything, every facility in our sports complex. We will provide players with gym facilities and other important things for their mental wellness. We are going to provide them with the top-class facilities in the country. Bangladesh has a lot of potential in hockey. Keeping it in our mind, we thought that we should move forward and invest in this sport,” he concluded.

Safwan, on behalf of Bashundhara Group, also handed a cheque of TK one crore to the BHF Acting GS Yousuf during the programme.
