The Arab Cup has been played out in Qatar in recent weeks, with the country continuing its preparations for the 2022 World Cup.

As countries have done in the past with the Confederations Cup, Qatar used the Arab Cup to show that they are ready for next year's World Cup, which will be played in November and December.

MARCA were present at both the semi-finals and the final, and have been able to take in some of the stadiums that could host Spain next winter.

An atypical World Cup
The tournament will be played in November and December, already making it irregular. Players will cut their domestic seasons in half, taking a brief break from club football to set off with their respective countries to Qatar.

The Arab Cup has served as evidence that the heat at this time of year will not be an issue for teams in 2022.

Many of the stadiums will be filled with 50,000 or 60,000 people next winter, with a number of modern stadiums being built for the tournament.

With the Arab Cup, Qatar have taken their preparations for 2022 to the next level, though controversy around the decision to take the tournament there remains for a number of reasons, including the working conditions of those building the stadiums.
