New Zealand 144 All Out in 17.1 Overs (Martin Guptill 43, Devon Conway 38, Ashton Agar 6/30, Riley Meredith 2/24)
Australia Won by 64 Runs
Player of the Match: Ashton Agar.

In the desperate do or die match Australia’s big guns Maxwell (70 in 31 balls) and Aaron Flinch (69 in 44 deliveries) fired Kangaroos to an impregnable 208/4.

New Zealand was going smoothly in response at 2/80 by the 9th over. Suddenly Australian spinners in desperately situation stung kiwis on their legs. First Zampa removed Guptill and then Astron Agar triggered dramatic collapse taking 4 wickets in an over and 6 over all. New Zealand innings got wrapped up for 144. In a dramatic turn around the last 7 wickets went down for 35 runs. Australia winning big by 64 runs stormed back into the series -1-2. The remaining two matches would be played in the same venue.

New Zealand winning the first two matches of the 5 matches T20 International series was looking good for wrapping the series today. The match scheduled to be played at Auckland was moved to Wellington for sudden lock down for new outbreak of COVID. Th remaining matches would also be played there. A cricket admirer was now forced staying away.

Australia had no other alternative but winning today for staying in the series. Right from the start of the match after put into bat they looked positively motivated. Runs dried out from the bat of captain Flinch and X-Factor Maxwell. They chose the day for getting back to their flamboyant best. Flinch (69) pairing with Philippe (43) smashed 83 in the 8.3 overs. That encouraged Australian dressing room greatly in that Southee and Boult can also be collared. Maxwell so far was doing justice to his great value in IPL. On this day he blasted Kiwi attack all over the park striking 70 in only 31 deliveries. He struck as many as 8 fours and 5 towering sixes. 208/4 that Australia scored required New Zealand setting new record on the ground.

Buoyed by the brilliant batting Australian bowlers and fielders looked very enterprising on the day. Though Guptill looked eager to take on the Aussie bowlers apart from Conway none looked capable of matching with the needs of quick runs. Once Adam Zampa got rid of Guptill (43) Ashton Agar chipped in taking 6 wickets. Agar’s cleverly controlled flight triggered collapse. Black caps lost 7 wickets for 35 runs. Agar claimed 6/ 30. Australia won by 64 runs.

Australia and New Zealand are trying to test their best combinations aiming at the T20 World Cup in India in October 2021. New Zealand is playing with almost their full strength. Australia have given opportunities to some fringe players. It was a great come back for both Flinch and Maxwell. Their performance again proved that” Form is temporary but class in permanent.”

TEAM TIGERS MUST ALSO LEARN SOME LESSONS FROM THE MATCH.
