Dream 11, IPL2020, 43rd Match
Kings XI Punjab VS Sunrisers’ Hyderabad
Played at DSC, Dubai on 24 October 2020
Brief Scorecard:
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) 126/7 (N Pooran 32, KL Rahul 27, CH Gayle 20, Mandeep Singh 17, Rashid Khan 2/14, JO Holder 2/27, Sandeep Sharma 2/27) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) 114 All Out in 19.5 Overs (D Warner 35, V Shankar 26, JM Bairstow 19, MK Pandey 19, CH Jordan 3/17, Arsdeep Singh 3/23) by 12 Runs.
Player Of The Match: C Jordan

An unbelievable late middle order and tail collapse of SRH possible conceiving only in drama kept KXIP in the hunt of business session of IPL 2020. KXIP won the low scoring match at DSC Dubai by 12 Runs.

It was low gripping turning wicket where run scoring became extremely challenging as the match progressed KXIP could post only 126/7 batting first. SRH were well on the course reaching 4/100 by the 17th over when Pandey got out. From there on scoring 27 runs with 6 wickets at hand appeared like "Chalk and Cheese" for SRH. But, Englishman C Jordan (3/ 17) and Punjabi Youth Arsdeep Singh (3/23) at this stage-struck gold. The late middle order of SRH were blown away in the wink of an eye. SRH collapsed dramatically losing 6 wickets for 14 runs getting bundled out for 114. Snatching the match from the jaw of the shark KXIP kept its business session dream alive closing the gap with KXIP. The battle for the 4th spot is getting intensified.

None even the staunchest admirer of KXIP expected that the team would win when they posted a paltry 126/7 batting first. The wicket however appeared a bit slow and gripping. Pooran (32), Rahul (27) and Gayle (20) could not convert start into something substantial as on a turning track Rashid Khan (2/14), Holder (2/27) and Sandeep Sharma (2/29) castled them and others before any could spread their wings.

A possible win for SRH seemed a matter of time when Warner (35 and Bairstow (19) raced to 52 in the opening partnership. Two emerging spinners Ravi Bishoy and M Ashwin removed the openers in quick succession. Yet there were Pandey(19) and Shankar (19) the batting heroes of the last match. The score was 4/100 in the 17th over when Pandey got out. None perhaps in the wildest of imagination conceived a KXIP turn out. C Jordan and Arshdeep Singh together bowling brilliantly turned the table upon bewildered SRH triggering dramatic collapse. In 14 runs SRH lost their last 6 wickets. Jordan (3/17) and Arshdeep (3/23) stemmed the rot.

It was a great escape for KXIP.  With 3 more matches yet to be played KXIP can dream of a knock out date. But for that they may need to win at least two of them.
