Reigning Champions Clinched The Top Position

Dream11 IPL 2020: 27th Match
Mumbai Indians (MI) Vs Delhi Capitals (DC) Played at Sheikh Jayed Stadium Abu Dhabi on 11 October 2020
Brief Scorecard:
Mumbai Indians 166/5 (Q de Kock 53, SA Yadav 53, K Rabda 2/28) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) 162/4(S Dhawan 69, SS Iyer 42) by 5 Wickets
Player of The Match: Q de Kock.

The battle of the two top dogs ended with reigning champions Mumbai Indians cruising to a comfortable victory of 5 wickets finishing at the top of the table with 10 points from 7 pool matches. In form Delhi Capital also achieving 10 is marginally behind on net run rate. Batting first on slow sluggish wicket DC managed 162 /4 riding on 69 old fox Shikhar Dhawan scored. Strong MI overhauled the target scoring 166/5 with aggressive Protean D de Cock (53) and flamboyant Indian SA Yadav (53) sparkling.  With only match between RCB and KKR remaining battle lines will be drawn today who plays whom in the knock outs. The missions of SRH, RR, KKIP and CSK are over. This year IPL 2020 preliminary contest is of single round.

The excitements expected in the battle of the two better performing teams MI and DC was however missing. DC appeared a bit reluctant in forcing the pace. Batting first they could score only 162/4. It appeared at least 20 runs less than a competitive score against power packed MI batting. Shekahar Dhawan scored classic 69 in his own unique style. Off the rest only SS Iyer scored 42. With 6 wickets intact it is difficult to understand why DC batsmen did not press the paddle for setting a higher target. DC may soon realize that once the winning momentum is lost in such a rat race it becomes extremely difficult to regain.

MI had a cautious approach. DC with 10 points was assured of a place in the knock out round. MI had to win to secure. Though impact player Rohit Sharma failed yet Q de Kock (53) and S A Yadav (53) batted with great responsibility. Despite of probing bowling of Rabada (2/28) MI cruised to victory scoring 166/5 in 19.4 Overs. Today in the last pool match RCB and KKR would work out the knock out schedule as to who plays whom.
