When a team responding to a target of 165 for winning a T20 match shoots to 115 in the opening partnership invariably cruises to the victory with consummate ease. The win of KKIP yesterday at Abu Dhabi could jeopardies the prospect of Bollywood idol Shahrukh Khan’s KKR qualifying for the business round. Any admirer of modern day cricket can raise question why KKIP did not push for the win. Such matches create genuine doubts about fairness of IPL matches. Finishing at 162/5 KKIP lost by 2 runs. KKR surviving the scare kept the radar right for the business session.

Earlier winning the toss and batting first KKR posted a not too a big score of 164/6. Karthik (58) and Shubman Gill (57) were the main contributors. Chasing that target KKIP openers Rahul (74) and Agarwall (56) setting an opening partnership of 115 all but won the match before KKIP played the act according to what doctors ordered. A win by KKIP would not have mattered much for the them. But the loss of KKR would have jeopardized their chance of knock out round. Who knows there may have been trading at high stake somewhere. Players have to be great actors as well in disco cricket these days. 

Winning the match by 2 runs KKR now has a great chance of playing in the knock out. KKIP mission IPL 2020 is over.
