In a high scoring top heavy DC batting units delivering in unison posted a good enough total of 228/4. Strong KKR in hot pursuit could go as far as 210/8. Subduing KKR by 18 runs DC consolidated their position at the top of the pack looking increasingly secure for entering the business session of the tournament.

The feature of DC innings was each of the top four batsmen Iyer (88*), Shaw (66), Punt (38) and Dhawan (26). DC put up a very impressive 228/4. The otherwise potent KKR attack made no impression on DC batting.  Put into bat the DC openers Shaw and Dhawan raced to 56 by the sixth over when Dhawan was removed by leggie Varun. Iyer and Shaw then added 73 runs in the second wicket Inform Shaw continued his silky form scoring 66 in 41 deliveries striking 4 fours and 4 sixes. Rishab Pant and SS Iyer again produced another useful partnership of 62 before punt fell for 38. Iyer remained not out 88 scored of only 38 deliveries. His brilliant innings contained as many as 7 boundaries and 6 sixes. 

Chasing 229 for a win against any attack on any T20 match is not an easy task. Moreover, losing wickets at regular interval KKR lost the task being reduced to 6/122 by the 14th over. However, Morgan and Tripathi striking the ball well took KKR within touching distance before Nortje removed free stroking Morgan for 44 and Stoinis accounting for Tripathi for 36 in the last over of the match. KKR could go as far as 210/8 still losing by 18 runs. With 6 points from 4 matches DC leads the points table with better net run rate above RCB also having 6 points from 4 matches.
