England did not include any of the test players; Pakistan had Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan and Shahin Shah Afridi from the test squad.

Pakistan won the toss and under dark overhead crowd elected to field. Starting with left arm spin of Imad Wasim Pakistan struck early blow removing Jonny Bairstow in the very first over caught and bowled off a low powerful straight drive. Banton could also be gone in the very next over had Iftikhar not dropped a dolly off the bowling of Shahin Shah in the very next over.

Getting reprieve Banton ran riot, smacking Pakistan bowlers all around the park. Him and Mallan put on 71 runs in 8 overs creating great momentum. Mallan was however run out from a terrible mix up. Moeen joined Banton. This pair added 35 runs in three overs as Banton kept striking fours and sixes at will. Then in 19 deliveries English batting suddenly collapsed losing four quick wickets including that of Banton. From 109/3 it became 123/6 in the wink off an eye. When rain forced players living the field England was looking down the barrel at 131/6 in 16.1 Overs.

Pakistan was in control at that stage. The wicket was playing easy. With a very powerful batting and some matured players like Shoaib and Hafiz Pakistan could even chase 160 on the wicket. But rain ruined the match with no further play possible. The second match would be played at the same venue tomorrow.
