BCB pays heartfelt tribute to first captain Shamim
Former cricketers and BCB officials placed floral wreath at the body of Shamim Kabir

DHAKA: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) paid rich tributes to the first captain of national cricket team who died at a city hospital on Monday (July 29).

BCB hosted a namaj-e-janaja of Shamim Kabir on its grounds around 11:15am Thursday (August 1).  

Former cricketers Raqibul Hasan, Shafiqul Haque Hira, Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu, Minhajul Abedin Nannu, Akram Khan, Naimur Rahman Durjoy and higher officials of BCB performed the janaja.

National team's current Test skipper all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and pacer-all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin also took part in the funeral prayer. 

Shamim Kabir breathed his last at Eden Hospital in Dhaka at the age of 74.
