Junayed Babunagari, amir of Hefazat-e-Islam, passed away at hospital in Chattogram on Thursday afternoon. He was 67.

He breathed his last around 12:30pm while undergoing treatment at CSCR Hospital.

Hefazat spokesperson Munir Ahmed confirmed the news.

Babunagari was taken to the hospital around 11am today after his physical condition deteriorated, he said.

Hefazat amir was suffering from various old-age complications, Munir added.
