Khaleda’s treatment abroad: Law ministry’s opinion reaches home ministry

The files with Law Ministe Anisul Huq’s opinion regarding BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's treatment abroad reached home ministry on Sunday morning.

The file was sent to the Home Secretary at 10:00am, said Law secretary Golam Sarwar.

Last week, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's family sought permission from the government to take her abroad for better treatment. Shamim Iskandar, younger brother of Khaleda Zia, handed the application to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.

Later, the home minister told the press that he sent the application to the law ministry for its opinion. Upon getting its view, the ministry will make the decision.

Having infected with coronavirus, the former prime minister Khaleda Zia was suffering from breathing and other complications.

BNP chief, however, tested negative for coronavirus after she underwent her third test yesterday (May 8).

Khaleda Zia is already convicted in two graft cases while many other criminal and corruption cases are pending with the court.

She is out of the jail following the government’s executive order which is extended.
