Ziaur Rahman's gallantry award to be revoked

Jatiya Muktijoddhya Council (Jamuka) has decided to revoke BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman's gallantry title of Bir Uttam.

Besides, Jamuka also recommend revoking the gallantry awards of four self-proclaimed killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

They are- Shariful Haq Dalim, MA Rashed Chowdhury, SHMB Noor Chowdhury and Mosleh Uddin.

The decision was made in the 72nd meeting of Jamuka on Tuesday, said an official of Liberation War Affairs Ministry.

The official said Ziaur Rahman, who was sector commander during the Liberation War, is being stripped of the title for defying the constitution, assisting the self-proclaimed killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in fleeing the country and posting them on important state positions.

Once the titles are revoked, these people and their families will not receive any national benefit for their contribution in the Liberation War.
