Nur Hossain Kasemi, secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, passed away at a hospital in Dhaka on Sunday noon.

He breathed his last around 12:45 pm while undergoing treatment at United Hospital.

Kashemi's press secretary Mufti Munir Ahmed confirmed the matter to Banglanews

Earlier on Friday, Kashemi was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) from the High Dependency Unit of the hospital as his condition deteriorated further.

Kasemi tested negative for the Covid-19.
