DHAKA: Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee was placed for remand for two days on Friday for his alleged attempt to kill writer Dr Humayan Azad.

“Sayedee was produced before the Dhaka CMM court seeking a 7-day remand while magistrate Dilara Alo Chandana approved two days after the hearing,” investigation officer of CID police Mustafijur Rahman said.

Terrorists stabbed Humayan Azad as he was returning home from Amar Ekushe Boimela on February 27 in 2004. His brother Manjur Kabir filed an attempt to murder case in Ramna Thana on the following day.

Dr Azad died in Munich on August 12, 2004.
