DHAKA: The Liberation War Affairs Ministry withheld the flawed list of Razakars on Wednesday (Dec 18) .
SM Arifur Rahman, secretary to the ministry, confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
He said that confusion created among the people including freedom fighters over the recently released list of Razakars. It is embarrassing. So the list has been withheld. The revised list would be published later after scrutiny.
The official list of Razakars, which was published on Sunday (Dec 16), has drawn huge criticism here as the name of a Language Movement veteran and war-wounded freedom fighter among others is on it.
On December 17, apologizing for the mistakes, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque said that his ministry is not behind the mistake.
“If the number of mistakes is too many, we will publish a revised list after proper investigation,” the minister added.
On December 15, the government published the names of 10,789 Razakars who collaborated with the Pakistan occupation army in carrying out mass killings and atrocities against the Bangalees during the 1971 Liberation War.
