DHAKA: BNP has briefed foreign diplomats stationed in Dhaka about the five years jail sentence of Khaleda Zia and country’s latest political situation on Tuesday (February 13).
The briefing, led by secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, started at the party chairperson’s Gulshan office at around 4:15pm and continued for over an hour.
According a special source, diplomats of 15 foreign countries went to the Gulshan office while senior BNP leaders received them.
The main discussions of the meeting were issues like Khaleda’s conviction in ‘false’ case, denying her division in jail, harassment of BNP leaders and activists.
Earlier on February 8, a special court in Dhaka sentenced Khaleda Zia to five years imprisonment in Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
On January 30, BNP last briefed diplomats at the same venue before the verdict was pronounced.
