People from all walks of life have paid their last tributes to noted journalist Toab Khan, editor of the daily 'Danik Bangla,' at the Central Shaheed Minar on Monday (Oct 3).
His body was brought to the central Shaheed Minar around 11 am where people from all strata paid their glowing tributes by placing wreaths at the coffin of Toab Khan.
Earlier, his first namaaz-e-janaza was held at his workplace Dainik Bangla office in the capital's Tejgaon area around 10am.
Toab Khan's body will be kept at Jatiya Press Club premises from 1:00pm to 1:30pm where the second janaza will be held.
He will be laid to eternal rest at Banani Graveyard after third janaza.
The veteran journalist breathed his last on Saturday at a city hospital at the age of 87.
Born on April 24, 1934, in Satkhira, Toab Khan made his debut as a journalist in 1955.
He was the former press secretary to the then Prime Minister and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from 1973 to 1975.
Toab Khan also served as Principal Information Officer and director general of the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB). He was the advisory editor of Daily Janakantha till last October from its inception.
This year, he joined as the editor of Dainik Bangla, being published under a new shape and management, and News Bangla.
The renowned journalist of the country was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2016 and selected honorary fellow of Bangla Academy in the same year.
