Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP's) Detective Branch of Ramana Division has arrested five people including the leader of the dacoit gang while preparing for robbery in Paltan area of the capital.

The arrestees are identified as Imran Hossain Shaheen, Md. Hira Bepari, Javed Ahmed Babu, Md. Arif Iqbal and Abul Khair Rana.

Detective police disclosed the information on Thursday (September 22).

Four chapatis, a knife, and a hammer were recovered from them, said police source.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police of Detective Ramana Division Mishu Biswas confirmed the matter.

He said there was information that some people are staying in Masjid Gali adjacent to Paltan Jonaki Super Market with the intention of committing robbery. Later "Our team arrested the in a drive".

Each of them has several cases registered against them in different police stations. Legal action has been taken under Paltan police station, he added.
