Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a person with 15 gold bars weighing 1.652kg at Sorsha border in Jashore on Tuesday (Sep 20) morning.
The arrestee was identified as Jalal Uddin, 35, son of Ali Kadam and resident of Putkhali village under Benapole police station.
Lieutenant Colonel Tanveer Ahmed (PSC) confirmed the matter.
He said acting on a tip-off, a special team of BGB headquarters conducted a raid at Gogo bazaar area at 11:30 am. Later, they detained Jalal from the area and recovered 15 gold bars from his motorcycle worth Tk 1.25 crore.
However, the smuggler along with the gold has been handed over to Sharsha police station, the BGB official added.
