Two to die for killing principal Jamal in Tangail

A Tangail court on Wednesday (Sep 14) sentenced two people to death for killing a college principal named Jamal Hossain.

Judge Begum Shahana Haque Siddika of Special District and Sessions Judge Court announced the verdict today. 

The court also fined them TK 50,000 each.

The death-row convicts are Minhazur Rahman Mintu, son of late Hasan Ali of Fulbagh Gobarchaka village of Sakhipur upazila and Abdul Malek Shukur, son of Suryad Ali of the same village.

The court also acquitted three other accused as the allegation brought against them could not be proved.

Public prosecutor Mohammad Mohsin Sikder confirmed the matter.

He said the convicts hacked the principal to death while Jamal Hossain Thandu was going to home from Palashtali College in Sakhipur over previous enmity on October 20, 2011.

Later, Jamal Hossain's wife Parveen Begum filed a murder case with Sakhipur Police Station.
