Microbus driver remanded over student's death in Tejgaon

A Dhaka court today (Sep 13) placed Ziaul Huq, 50, driver of the microbus that hit a schoolboy, leaving him dead on September 11 in Tejgaon Industrial area, on a three-day police remand.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tamanna Farah passed the order as police produced Ziaul before the court and pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand. The defence, however, argued for scrapping the remand plea and setting the accused free on bail.

Police on September 12 arrested Ziaul Huq from the Bish Mail area of Ashulia and seized the killer microbus.

Earlier on September 11, Ali Hossain, student of class 10 of Government Science College got seriously injured as the speedy microbus hit him while he was crossing the road in front of Bangladesh Government Press in Tejgaon Industrial area.

Locals rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the attending doctors declared him dead.

Later, a case was filed with Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station over the incident.
