Three people, including a newborn baby, were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a microbus at Taraganj upazila in Rangpur district.

Seven others were injured in the accident that took place near Solyeasha Bazar around 5:30 am on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Borat, 30, son of Nasir Uddin, Rafiqul Islam, 40, son of Jahanur Islam, and a seven-day-old newborn baby, hailed from Nilphamari district.

Taraganj Highway Police Station officer in-charge Sheikh Mohammed Mahabub Morshed confirmed the matter.

He said a Nilphamari-bound bus of Bhai Bhai Express collided head-on with a passenger carrying microbus, leaving 10 people injured including seven people of a family.

The injured were rescued by locals and taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where three people succumbed to their injuries, the OC added.
