A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a microbus in Barisal on Thursday (Sep 8) around 8:00 pm.

The deceased was identified as Naeem Khalifa (30).

The accident took place in Gariya Par area of Dhaka Barisal highway.

According to the police report, Naeem was coming from his home on a motorcycle toward Barisal city. On the way, a microbus from the opposite direction hit his bike. Later, the locals rescued seriously injured Naeem and rushed him to Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to injury while undergoing treatment.

Barisal Airport Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamlesh Chandra Halder confirmed the matter.

He said that the microbus was intercepted but the driver escaped. 

However, the deceased's body is in the hospital's mortuary, he added.
