A patient was physically tortured by a doctor at Shariatpur Sadar Hospital in Shariatpur on Sunday (August 14).

The video of assaulting the patient went viral on social media.

However, the identity of the patient could not be known immediately.

It was seen in the video that Shariatpur Sadar Hospital Medical Officer Dr. Akram Elahi was randomly beating a patient who came for treatment. 

Dr. Akram Elahi said “I beat him after he had assaulted my assistant. It's not my fault, and it is okay according to Islamic rules.’’

Pion Ataur said, “I am a sick person. That man (patient) had hit me first on my chest. Then I had just informed sir regarding patient’s misbehaviour.’’

Shariatpur Sadar Hospital supervisor Dr. Abdus Sobhan said that as the patient did not make any complaint, the matter was solved.
