The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 57 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital city over the past 24 hours till 6:00 am Sunday (Aug 14).

Detectives and the law enforcers jointly made the arrest and seized illegal drugs from their possession.

The DMP seized 7,347 pieces of Yaba tablets, 42.351kg hemp, 34gm heroin, 453 bottles of phensedyl and 50 Tapentadol tablet from their possessions, a DMP statement said.

Being informed, members of Detectives and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a 24-hour long raid and detained the drug trades from various places, it also said. 

According to the statement, a total of 42 cases have been filed against the detained persons under the Narcotics Control Act.
