The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 73 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital city over the past 24 hours till 6:00 am Saturday (Aug 13).

Detectives and the law enforcers jointly made the arrest and seized illegal drugs from their possession.

The DMP seized 2,952 pieces of Yaba tablets, 65.215kg hemp, 92gm heroin, 15 bottles of phensedyl, five bottles of local liquor and 15 bottles of foreign wine from their possessions, a DMP statement said.

Being informed, members of Detectives and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a 24-hour long raid and detained the drug trades from various places, it also said. 

According to the statement, a total of 49 cases have been filed against the detained persons under the Narcotics Control Act.
