52 held in DMP’s anti-narcotics drives

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 52 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital city over the past 24 hours till 6:00 am Friday (Aug 12).

Detectives and the law enforcers jointly made the arrest and seized illegal drugs from their possession.

The DMP seized 4,986 pieces of Yaba tablets, 15.69kg hemp, 141gm heroin, 5 bottles of phensedyl and 100 injectable drugs from their possessions, a DMP statement said.

Being informed, members of Detectives and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a 24-hour long raid and detained the drug trades from various places, it also said. 

According to the statement, a total of 43 cases have been filed against the detained persons under the Narcotics Control Act.
