46 cops sued over Bhola JCD leader Noor-e-Alam death

A case has been filed against 46 policemen of Bhola sadar police station in connection with the death of Noor-e-Alam, president of Bhola Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal who died in police firing during a clash with police on July 31.

Iffat Zahan, wife of the Noor-e-Alam, filed the murder case with Bhola Sadar senior judicial magistrate’s court on Thursday (August 11).

Advocate Amirul Baset, secretary of Bhola Nationalist Lawyers Forum confirmed the matter. 

The court today asked the Officer in Charge (OC) of Sadar police station to submit the documents on September 8 this year. 

On July 31, Abdur Rahim, an activist of BNP was killed and more than 50 others were injured in a clash with police during the party’s demonstration against the ongoing power cut and mismanagement in the power sector at Kalinath Roy Bazar in Sadar upazila of Bhola district.

Noor-e-Alam, suffered bullet wounds during a clash with police on that clash.

Later on, August 3, Noor-e-Alam, who had been on life support in a hospital in Dhaka passed away, triggering protests across the country.

Khadiza Begum, wife of Abdur Rahim also filed a case on August 4, over the murder against 36 police members including the model police station OC, Md Arman Hossain.

Earlier on August 4, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir blamed the ruling Awami League government for the death of Noor-e- Alam and Abdur Rahim in alleged police firing in Bhola.
