RAB arrests ‘drug scientist’ in Gulshan drive

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a ‘drug scientist’ in a drive from Gulshan area in the capital on Tuesday (August 2).

The arrestee is identified as Onaisi Saeed alias Rayer Saeed, a producer of ‘kush’ drugs using heat-controlled methods.

While studying abroad, Saeed became familiar with various drugs. He planned to create a new type of drug circulation and market in the country.

According to the plan, from 2019, he used to bring various types of drugs from different countries through couriers. He used to supply those drugs to various elite parties in the country.

RAB members 101 grams of kush, 6 grams of hemp, 0.05 grams of moly, 1 gram of fentanyl, 18 grams of cocaine, 123 peaches of ecstasy, 28 peaches of Adderall tablets recovered in a raid from Saeed Gulshan's house on Monday night.

Besides, the elite force recovered Tk 2.40 crore and at least 5 million US dollars from his house.

Saeed used to pay the price of these drugs through hundi. His customers in Bangladesh are members of various elite families.

Commander Khandaker Al Moin said that Onaisi Saeed had been staying in Bangladesh since 2014. But he had regular trips abroad. He used to bring new types of drugs to increase popularity in Bangladesh. He used to spread these drugs to various parties and within his circle.

He said Saeed used to bring the parcels in the name of close relatives and friends. Of course, none of them knew about it.

When he used to deliver these drugs to various parties in Dhaka, those through whom he sent them did not know what was inside the packet, he added.

Statement of accused Onaisi Saeed

The director of RAB's legal and media wing Khandaker Al Moin said that Saeed was interrogated for a long time after the arrest.

He said that Saeed started studying and researching these new drugs out of curiosity. As per the future plan, he established Kush plant farm in his residence to supply to developed countries.

As a trial, he started farming in a flat in Mohammadpur with a heat control grow-tent system. For the first time, he produced about 400 grams of Kush from this plant. He then sold those drugs for Tk 3 lakh per gram.

Khandaker Al Moin said Saeed's drug shipment was once stuck in Canada.

He said “We have not received any information regarding shipment detention in Bangladesh. In Dhaka, we got the information of 7-8 people, who collected these new drugs from him.”

The operation is ongoing in this regard. Innovative drug paraphernalia was seized from Syed. He planned to become a ‘drug scientist’ by analyzing those.

A diary was recovered from him. Where his research on drugs is written in detail, what drugs should be stored at what temperature, and how to consume in what amount are written in that diary.

A case will be filed against Saeed under the Special Powers Act and Money Laundering, Al Moin said.
