The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 70 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital city over the past 24 hours till 6:00 am Monday (Aug 1).

Detectives and the law enforcers jointly made the arrest and seized illegal drugs from their possession.

The DMP seized 13,513 pieces of Yaba tablets, 588.355kg hemp and 454gm heroin, 46 bottles of Phensidyl, 10 bottles of foreign wine and 4gm cocaine, a DMP statement said.

Being informed, members of Detectives and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a 24-hour long raid and detained the drug trades from various places, it also said. 

According to the statement, a total of 49 cases have been filed against the detained persons under the Narcotics Control Act.
