Eid-Ul-Azha: Slow sale of train tickets, passengers falls sick

Hundreds of Passengers after failing to book rail tickets online gathered in the capital's Kamalapur railway station on Friday (July 1).

Bangladesh railway have started selling advance tickets for Eid-Ul-Azha today at 8 am, while standing in line many passengers have fallen ill due to the heat and slow sale of tickets.

There was a long line observed for tickets in the railway station. Separate lines have been made for men and women. However, some incidents of chaos took place in the station. 

A sick passenger named Faria told banglanews, "I stood in line at 8 in the morning." Now my head is spinning. Feeling sick, we passengers are suffering lot for the ticket.

Gautam Chandra, another passenger was seen sitting on the floor tired. Speaking to banglanews, he said, "I have been waiting for tickets since 5 am." Tickets are not available in the online. There is no guarantee when I will get the ticket. Now I am feeling sick.

Kamalapur Railway Station Manager Masud Sarwar told banglanews that 36 intercity train tickets we have started selling simultaneously from six places including the capital. Tickets for July 5 are being sold today. 

Regarding the suffering of getting tickets online, he said, 4 and a half lakh people at a time logged in for 12,000 tickets at 8 am today. This suffering is due to more hits in the app. Those who can't access the app are basically complaining.

On the first day, total 26,729 tickets are being sold from the ticket counter and half online.
