Former UP member hacked to death in Narsingdi 

Former UP member Sujit Sutradhar (53) has been hacked to death by miscreants due to previous hostilities at Hajipur in Narsingdi. 

The incident took place at around 8:30 pm on Wednesday (June 22) at Sujit's shop in Kathbazar of Hajipur, also two people, including the victim's son Sujan, were injured.

The deceased Sujit Sutradhar was a UP member of Hajipur ward 3 and also a former BNP’s vice-president of Hajipur Union.

The victim's family alleged that the murder was carried out with the help of the preset UP chairman following a lawsuit with the local UP chairman.

Sujan Sutradhar, son of the deceased, said that the current UP chairman's brother Monir, assistant Delu and Rakib, including 25 to 30 local other goons attacked with daggers, spears, and sharp weapons. 

Sujan and the shop staff were also attacked and injured when they tried to stop them. However, the deceased then was taken to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital and the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Narsingdi Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Saheb Ali Pathan said it is not yet clear what exactly caused the killing.

There was a lawsuit between the two groups. A police team is working to arrest the accused and find the reason for this murder, said ASP.
