Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim today (May 17) said not a single animal will be imported from out of the country as the country has adequate number of sacrificial animals for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
The minister shared this information while talking to journalists of the Fisheries and Livestock and Journalists Forum at Secretariat in the capital.
SM Rezaul Karim said, “The country can meet the demand of sacrificial animals by its local production. Bangladesh now sees surplus production of sacrificial animals after meeting its own demand.
In the last year, one-tenth of the cows produced in the country for the Eid-ul-Azha were not sold. Besides, adequate number of sacrificial animals are available to the animal farm owners with the animals produced last year.”
