The High Court on Monday (Jan 24) directed to hang public-transport fare list at terminals and other visible places in the country by a month.
In response to a writ petition, the court also asked the Bangladesh Road Transport Authorities (BRTA) to take necessary steps for not charging extra fare.
A two-member HC bench of Justice Mamunur Rahman and Khandakar Diliruzzaman passed the order issuing a rule.
The HC also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned of the government to explain in four weeks why their failure to stop bus owners and their conductors from collecting extra fares from the passengers should not be declared illegal.
Deputy Attorney General Bipul Bagmar represented the state during the hearing.
Supreme Court lawyers Md Abu Taleb, Mokhlesur Rahman and Muntasim Tanjir filed the petition.
