HC directives sought to close educational institutions

A writ petition has been filed with the High Court seeking its directives to close educational institutions across the country for next 30 days due to spread of COVID-19 again.

Lawyer Younus Ali Akand filed the writ on Wednesday (Jan 19).

"The bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice SM Moniruzzaman may hear the appeal," he said.

Meanwhile, both the Appellate Division and the High Court Division began their work virtually from today.  

Meanwhile, Education Minister Dipu Moni on Tuesday said that if COVID-19 pandemic situation deteriorates in the country, online classes may be launched.

Bangladesh on Tuesday (Jan 18) reported 10 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours keeping the number of total deaths to 28,164.

Besides, 8,407 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 1,632,794.
