The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 61 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital city over the past 24 hours till 6:00 am Wednesday (Jan 19).

Detectives and the law enforcers jointly made the arrest and seized illegal drugs from their possession.

The DMP seized 9,588 Yaba tablets, 4.615 kg of hemp, 135 grams of heroin and 245 bottles of phensedyl and 10 liters local liquor from their possessions, a DMP statement said.

Based on information, members of Detectives and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a 24-hour long raid and detained the drug trades from various places, it also said.

A total of 47 cases have been filed against the detained persons under the Narcotics Control Act, the statement added.
