Bangladesh Railway will start carrying passengers at half capacity on Saturday (Jan 15) in a bid to ensure health safety.
However, this time the number of trains will not decrease. At present all the passenger trains are running.
The decision was taken at a meeting of senior officials with Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan at Rail Bhaban in the capital on Tuesday.
Additional Director General of Railways (Operations) Sardar Shahadat Ali said the fare would not be increased even if half the seats were vacated.
He said as strict measures will be taken to maintain social distancing in trains and stations no one will be allowed to enter the station without a mask.
According to railway sources, tickets for half of the train's capacity will be sold equally online and at the station counters.
