11-point Omicron restrictions imposed; no outdoor gatherings 

The government has issued 11-point restrictions to contain the spread of Omicron variant across the country. These instructions will have to be complied with from January 13 until further notice.

The Cabinet Division a gazette notification on Monday evening which will come into effect on Thursday.

Below are the restrictions:

People will adhere to compulsory use of facemask in the shopping malls, markets, hotel and restaurants.    

Facemasks have to be used at offices and other places outside homes.

People must be vaccinated to have foods at hotels and restaurants or stay there.

The students above 12 years will not be allowed in school save vaccination.

Land, sea and airports will see increase in screening. Crews are not allowed to go out of ships. No visitors except passengers will be allowed in the airport. Only drivers, not associates are allowed in the land ports.  

Trans, launch and bus drivers and other staffs must be vaccinated. The vehicles must operate with limited number of passengers.
Foreign returnees must show Covid-19 vaccination certificates and go through antigen test.

The imams of the mosques must aware people of health regulations during khutba of Juma prayers.

The health ministry will boost vaccination programmes in the field level.

All kinds of political, social, religious and cultural programmes will be prohibited until further notice.  

The local administration will take necessary actions based on the changing situation.

Meanwhile, the country reported three deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours keeping the number of total deaths to 28,105, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday (Jan 10).

Besides, 2231 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 1,595,931.
