Workers of a readymade garment (RMG) factory blocked a road at Mirpur in the capital and Dhaka-Chattogram Highway on Wednesday (Nov 24) morning demanding to increase their salaries.
Over 1,000 workers of different RMG factories at Mirpur started demonstration blocking the road in Mirpur-10 Bus Stand area.
The protesting workers set two motorcycles on fire in the capitals Mirpur- 14 area, Banglanews correspondent reports.
Hafizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kafrul Police Station, said: "Worker have so many demands. I came to know that some of their demands were met. But they have been protesting since morning, as two of them were allegedly assaulted during their protest on Tuesday."
Besides, as the workers of a garment factory put barricade on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway demanding payment of their dues, traffic movement remained suspended since Wednesday morning.
The workers of the factory took to the streets around 9:00am and put barricade on the highway, halting traffic movement on both sides of the highway in Harikhola area of Chandina upazila of Cumilla.
They were staging protest in demand of their two months' salary that is due.
