The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 39 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital city over the past 24 hours till 6:00 am Wednesday (Oct 13).
Detectives and the law enforcers jointly made the arrest and seized illegal drugs from their possession.
The DMP seized 2,541 pieces of sedative yaba tablets, 150 grams of heroin, 1.895 kg of cannabis and three bottles of phensedyl and 1.5 liters of local liquor from them.
DMP's Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Hafiz Al Asad has confirmed the news.
Based on information, members of Detectives and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a 24-hour long raid and detained the drug trades from various places, he said.
A total of 32 cases have been filed against the detained persons under the Narcotics Control Act, the DMP official added.
