Death toll from Turag trawler capsize reaches 7

The death toll from the Turag trawler capsize has raised to seven divers recovered the bodies of a woman and her two-year old daughter today, two days.

The deceased were identified as Rupayan Begum,30, and her daughter Jasmin.

Lima Khanam, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters, confirmed the matter to Banglanews this evening.

She said fire fighters recovered the body of the woman from Dhaka's Bosila bridge in the Buriganga river around 10.30am while river police recovered the body of the child around 1.30pm at Munshiganj's Muktarpur point in Dhaleshwari river.

Earlier, five people died after a trawler had capsized in the Turag River in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka, on Saturday morning.

Fire service sources said the trawler capsized with 18 people when a sand-laden cargo vessel hit it in the river in Amin Bazar area around 8:30 am.
