Anti-drug raid: 50 arrested in city

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 50 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital city over the past 24 hours.

Detectives and the law enforcers jointly made the arrest and seized 10Kg cannabis from their possession.

Approximately 239 grams of heroin, 15 bottles of Phensedyl Syrup and 2,096 pieces of Yaba tablets were recovered from their possession.

DMP's Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Iftekhairul Islam has confirmed the news.

Based on information, members of Detectives and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a 24-hour long raid and detained the drug trades from various places, said the DMP sources, he said.

A total of 36 cases have been filed against the detained persons under the Narcotics Control Act, the DMP official added.
