Three people were killed and another was injured as a covered van turned turtle after hitting a tractor in Harikhola area under Chandina Upazila of Cumilla on Thursday morning.

The deceased were identified as Nurul Islam, 40, son of Abdul Jalil, hailing from the area, Foyjar Rahman, 40, son of Abdul Khaleque, from Rangpur and covered van driver Liton, 40.

Injured Amir Hossain, driver of the tractor, was sent to Cumilla Medical College Hospital.

Witnesses said the Dhaka-bound covered van lost control and overturned after hitting the tractor at 8:15am, leaving Nurul Islam and Faizar Rahman died on the spot and driver of the vehicles injured.

Later, the driver of the covered van died on the way to a hospital.

Inspector Ziaul Haque Chowdhury, in-charge of Eliotganj Highway Police Outpost, confirmed the accident.
